IT LIVES AGAIN !!!!

Time flies! Not the greatest insight I have had in my four decades of existence (even though, on last count, I had perhaps three insights through out my life).

But still stumbling across this old blog, lying abandoned and unupdated for over a decade, certainly drives that point home. Hard to believe it has been that long. Much has changed, since the last post. For me, for the people around me, and for the world as a whole. It will be futile to put any definitive, qualitative descriptor to the changes the intervening decade has brought about; except that they happened.

So here I am, my third attempt at getting this quest off the ground. Let's hope I can be a bit more regular this time around!

To the windmills, I go!!

From a galaxy far far away

What if you had the ability to experience via Extra Sensory Perception, messages from galaxies far far away (and if ol' Einstein was correct,) sent long, long ago? Well, that is what this man, believes to be his reality. I have seen him nearly everyday now for a over a year, mostly at the corner of Market and Montgomery, on my way home from work. The montage/banner he carries is fairly nondescript and unassuming. You could easily believe it to be any number of "earthly" protests, that San Francisco routinely embraces, instead of the incredible message it tries to convey. His demeanor (most days) and get up would not put him out of place at social gatherings/or even a semi casual day at work. So what gives? I don't know, nor would I venture a guess at what this man may have endured in his journey through life, for him to seek solace among the stars.

But here's to you, Frank; on your quest, whatever it may be. I hope you have better luck deciphering translating our message to the rest of galaxies than we have of theirs.

Quo Vadis

'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.

Push off, and sitting well in order smite

The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds

To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths

Of all the western stars, until I die.

It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:

It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,

And see the great Achilles, whom we knew

Lately I have been thinking about this poem. Not that I harbor any delusions of grandeur to compare myself with Odysseus (or Frasier Crane for that matter), but sometimes I think the heroes of yore had it easy; go out in search of a quest, a definable, unambiguous noble adventure, which made it far easier to face the trials and tribulations associated with it. Not to mention, it almost always involved a siren or nymph of some sort. But woe to this post modern world with its moral relativism. Today there is no clear definition, or guide to what constitutes a noble undertaking, and what is truly the price for the pursuit of said quest? Maybe it,s just me and others probably have a far more solid framework to operate within; for me I think I just have to hobble along as best I can.
